Live Aqua Boutique Resort Playa Del Carmen Reviews

Location

Alive Aqua Playa Del Carmen is located on the north end of 5th Avenue, Playa Del Carmen's thriving, principal hub packed with bars, restaurants, shops, outdoor cafés, java shops and tour operators. It'due south just two blocks from the beaches of Riviera Maya, and a 45-minute drive from Cancun International Drome.

Fashion and Character

Like all hotels on Fifth Artery, and compared to its sister property in Cancun, Live Aqua PDC is small (60 rooms). It manages to make apply of space with thoughtful pattern, like a central, open up-air atrium with reflection pool (and a resident turtle), large rooftop pool deck and restaurants with their own street entrance. The resort is mannerly (unlike mainstream all-inclusive resorts in the area), with design inspired by local Mayan civilisation. There's abundant natural light, green gardens, a beautiful wall mural and Mexican textiles and fabrics throughout the public spaces. I loved the various fine art installations, like the retro Volkswagen problems completely decorated with colorful seashells on the roofdeck.

Service and Facilities

Staff are young and hip, and they bring a youthful energy to the property that'southward by and large booked past equally young travellers (it's an adults-but resort, then there are no families, and it was heavy on couples in their 20s and 30s). By 24-hour interval, it's casual and quiet; at nighttime, at that place's a social vibe. There is a small spa with steam room and excellent masseuses, also as signature coffee scrubs, a fettle heart with mostly cardio machines, laundry, 24-60 minutes room service and pool service. The chef in the deli offers pastry-making lessons, guests can take tequila classes on the rooftop and there are nightly events throughout the calendar week, like a rooftop DJ or arts nighttime.

The laid-back rooftop deck, where I spent nearly of my solar day fourth dimension, offers views of the city and beach, sunbeds, cabanas, swinging chairs and an infinity pool. While the resort doesn't offer a section on the embankment, guests take access to Mamita'due south Beach Club, two blocks away. In that location'due south a fee of $150 MX per person ($8/£6), which tin can be practical toward nutrient and drinkable, and guests receive a sunbed and umbrella.

Rooms

There are only 60 contemporary-style rooms with lite woods wall panels and soft, green chairs, each equipped with a 46-inch Boob tube, java maker, safe and dining tabular array. The suites are much bigger with artwork and some have patios overlooking the street (including the 5th Artery Suite with outdoor hot tub). All rooms offer rainshowers with Molton Brown civilities. The minibar (with Mexican snacks and beers) is free, every bit well as room service from a limited menu.

Food and Drink

The food here is ambitious for a small all-inclusive, which includes Dai, a high-terminate, pan-Asian restaurant; El Mural international eatery (where breakfast is served); cafeteria with fresh pastries and sandwiches; and a good sushi eatery on the rooftop. Dai was a good spot for dinner, including the Tikamasala, with sautéed beef, green beans, tikka sauce and basmati rice and roti, a dish you won't find common around fifth Avenue. Breakfast includes a cafe section (generally pastries, dairies and fresh green juice), though you can order à la carte – go for the chilaquiles verdes, a staple Mexican breakfast dish served with chicken, beans and special sauce.

Value for Money

Double rooms from $209 (£159) in depression season; and from $663 (£505) in high, including breakfast. Overnight valet parking is available. Free Wi-Fi.

Access for guests with disabilities?

No. There are lifts, only no accessible rooms or pool accessibility.

Family-Friendly?

The resort is xviii+ only.
